Message from Chair

Welcome to the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Women in Engineering (WIE) community!

As Chair of this vibrant and growing initiative, I am honored to represent a diverse group of talented engineers, researchers, academics, and industry professionals who are passionate about advancing the fields of dielectrics and electrical insulation. Our work spans from fundamental research in dielectric materials to the development of innovative insulation systems and high-voltage technologies that power the future.

The DEIS WIE committee was founded with a clear mission: to empower women, promote inclusion, and build a strong support network within our technical community. We recognize that women in engineering often face unique challenges in their professional journeys. Through DEIS WIE, we aim to create spaces where women feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged to contribute their talents and ideas.

Over the past years, we have organized dedicated sessions at flagship DEIS conferences such as CEIDP, ICD, and ICPADM, as well as engaging online events and workshops. These forums offer opportunities for technical exchange, mentorship, career development, and open dialogue on important topics like work-life balance, leadership, and diversity in STEM fields. It has been truly inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and collaboration that arise when our members come together to share their experiences and insights.

One of our key goals is to ensure visibility for women’s contributions in the dielectrics and electrical insulation fields. By highlighting achievements, promoting leadership roles, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, we hope to inspire the next generation of women engineers and scientists. We also work closely with the DEIS Young Professionals and other committees to amplify the voices of emerging leaders and encourage greater participation from underrepresented groups.

I firmly believe that diversity is not just a value—it is a catalyst for innovation. When different perspectives and ideas come together, we generate more creative solutions and stronger technological advancements. Our field is at the forefront of critical developments, from sustainable energy systems to advanced materials for emerging electronics. Women have a vital role to play in shaping these innovations and driving progress for the benefit of society.

To all current and prospective members, I warmly invite you to become part of DEIS WIE. Whether you are a student just starting your journey, a researcher pursuing new discoveries, or an experienced professional eager to share your expertise, there is a place for you in our community. Your voice matters, and together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and make a difference.

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in DEIS WIE. I look forward to connecting with you and working together to insulate the future and conduct positive change.
